hiking to the Triple Divide Pass in Glacier National Park
The hike up to Triple Divide Pass has two highlights: the beautiful views of Medicine Grizzly Like and Triple Divide Peak.
Triple Divide Peak is one of only three peaks on the planet where water that falls on top of it can flow into three bodies of water. Google it.
So you drive on Cut Bank road (north of the Two Medicine area), which is a well maintained dirt road. There are no issues with the road, I drove a compact car. The day of my hike a coyote greeted me at the trailhead.
The start of the hike is along beautiful meadows with views of the upcoming mountains.
Then the trail enters a forested area, with occasion views of the creek to the left. Please make lots of noise, the sound from the creek will mask your walking and there are bears in that area.
You will leave the forest and start elevation towards the pass. The views of Medicine Grizzly Lake are AMAZING.
I then got a bit frustrated because there were a lot of false corners. I got close to one thinking the pass is there, just to reveal more trail, and on, and on; so be prepared.
Finally, you reach the pass. That day was cloudy, so I could not take a nice picture of the peak:
The trail beyond the pass will take you all the way to St Mary.
