a visit to the crowded Arches National Park

Arches National Park deserves a full day of hiking, in my opinion. On my visit I started early in the morning hiking the Primitive Loop; you will find lost of arches, plus the Dark Angel rock formation.

Most of the arches are in the first half of the hike.

At the halfway point, there is a small that takes you to the Dark Angel:

At this point, most people will turnaround and come back the way they came in. In order to make this a loop, the rest of the trail is walking on top of fins and following rock cairns. There is no trail since it is over rock, so you better know how to follow the cairns.

Balanced Rock

The best time to photograph is at dusk, when the sun will hit the rock.

From the Balanced Rock parking lot you can take nice pics of the La Sal mountains in the distance.

On a thanksgiving trip to the area, I had a quick stop and took a couple of pics with snow.
