The Wave

There is no place on Earth like the Coyote Buttes area in the border of Utah and Arizona …. Edmaiers Secret, Cottonwood Cove, White Pocket, and …………………………… THE WAVE.

I have a sad story to tell ………………… the trail to The Wave has no trail and many people have died of heat exhausting on the way back (they get lost and there is no share anywhere). I visited Bucksking Gulch in the middle of a 120F heat wave. It was so hot that I was getting heat stroke even though I was inside a shaded canyon. The parking lot is shared by people visiting The Wave and Buckskin Gulch. When I arrived I noticed an older couple getting ready to hike to The Wave. When I returned exhausted from my hike, I went back to the hotel and 2 days later I read on the news of an elderly couple that died of heat exhaustion when returning from The Wave; they got lost and the rangers found the dead wife under a small bush, probably trying to find protection from the sun. I am pretty sure that was the couple I saw on the parking lot. Even though the hike to The Wave is short, you can easily get lost and the sun can kill you slowly. That is no place for casual tourists.

This time I am posting images and a short comment under each one.
