hiking in the Thorofare Pass in Denali National Park

I wanted to hike in the Thorofare Pass area. I was planning to stop at the pass, but when we got to the Stony Overlook, the whole mountain was out, GLORIOUS, so I got off the bus and started taking pics an video like a maniac.

I hiked the area until I reached Gorge Creek and that stops further hiking west. I decided just to go up a hill and then another and another. Just fun. Then I settled to have lunch with the best view in the park:

If that was not fun enough, I noticed a herd of caribou roaming down in the Thorofare valley below and then they decided to go up and cross over a couple hundred feet from me. Check it out ……..

This is my lunch spot. Now, I never ever stop when I am hiking to eat or rest. But this was so special that I rested for a full hour. I could not believe my luck of the mountain being out and so clear.
